Does This Count As Animal Neglect?
Location: Pennsylvania
So, my mother has a cat I'll call Ice cream. She's had ice cream for 13 years. In these 13 years, she's taken ice cream to the vet 2 times. One to get her neutered as a kitten, and the other to get her shots because they were required for a situation she was facing. Ice cream is COVERED in fleas, which her last vet 4 years ago told her point blank. She lied to the vet about Ice cream being in pain, which she very obviously has been for many years. Ice cream is also very overweight because my mother overfeeds her like crazy and doesnt play with her, ever. Never has. She doesnt even own cat toys, the only cat toys she has are from me because I live with her and my own cat.
I guess my question is, does the obvious pain from the cat, obesity, and fleas even count as animal neglect? Would I get anywhere telling someone about this? I really feel for the cat because shes very old, and I don't want her to die prematurely because of my mother. Thank you for reading. I hope this is the right sub for this, I dont use reddit often.
