I Got Arrested For Vandalism.

Location: Long Beach, California

These horrible people who lived in my building left their dog out on their balcony for months without letting it inside. It would bark constantly and they would open the balcony door and slap it. Me and a few of my neighbors were reporting them to building management and our city’s animal control for a long time, and nothing was being done. On Memorial Day weekend they left for the weekend and left this poor animal on the balcony, this poor tiny dog slipped through the railing and plunged 7 stories to its death. I was absolutely horrified and furious. I stupidly went to their front door and wrote “dog killer” with a marker. A couple of hours later the cops showed up at my door and arrested me. They put me in handcuffs and put me in their car. I think they were planning on taking me to jail, but after they made a phone call to their superiors they took the cuffs off and gave me a citation for stalking and vandalism. I have a court date on 8/29. What’s my best option to make this whole thing go away? I have no prior criminal record, I’ve never even been pulled over.
