I Co Own A House With My Mother, She Now Refuses To Buy Me Out
I co own a property with my mother that she resides in. I live in a different property that I co own with my wife. When I purchased the property with my mother we agreed to live with each other for a few years then sell and split equity or buy one another out. I payed the down payment and closing cost so our verbal agreement was pay me back then spilt 50/50 after that. It came down to my wife and moving out and getting our own house. Now my mother refuses to buy me out of the property and give me my half of equity. She claimes it's because interest rates are too high now(we brought at 4.75) but in reality I know it's because she is destroying the house and is now in massive credit card debt that is now having people trying to come to my wife and my house to serve her court papers. I'm fearing that soon a lean might be put on the property hurting me. I want out and want my equity. How do I do this? Who should I speak to?
