Bus Driver Shoved/grabbed At Me In My Wheelchair. Is That Legal, If Not, What Do I Do?
Location: Seattle, Washington.
I was riding the bus in my wheelchair. The bus driver secured my wheelchair improperly. Then, when I got to my stop, he put the wheelchair ramp far too close to a bench. I could not get off of the ramp properly, because the bench was DIRECTLY in front of the ramp.
I told him multiple times it wouldn't work, but he told me to try anyway, so I did. I got to the bottom of the ramp, and when I couldn't get off of it because of the bench, he started grabbing, shoving, lifting, and even kicking me and my wheelchair in order to get me off the ramp. I verbally (and loudly) told him to stop. He did not, and kept roughly touching me and my wheelchair until I was off of the ramp. I have a witness to this, who has already filed a complaint with Sound Transit on my behalf.
I don't know what to do about this. I am physically unharmed, as is my wheelchair, but I feel violated by the huge amount of disrespect here. How should I proceed? Does this break any laws? I struggle with comprehending complex language and could not understand any law websites regarding related topics.
