How Can I Protect My Staff Member From A Customer Who Is Stalking Her And Works As A Lawyer?

Location: Queensland, Australia

Context: We work in clothing retail, I am the store manager. My staff member is F 26 casual and we do live together at the same residence, this man is known to us and has been a customer for 3+ years.

So, yesterday my housemate/staff member came home absolutely loosing it.

For the past four days this customer has come into store and not bought a single item, mainly to converse with us (her). Showing us photos and videos of his band performing and talking about his sexual exploits with women. When the conversation went too long or veered to inappropriate I would end it.

He came in on Friday and Saturday while I was working, so I handled him. He returned again on the Sunday and Monday, my days off. The Sunday it was the same routine, but he was quickly asked to leave by my secondary staff member F 22.

On the Monday however, things escalated.

He came in shortly before the store closed and when he saw my F 26 staff member was on went straight to her and announced loudly,

“Wow, it’s you. I swear I’m not stalking you or anything.”

She was stunned.

He proceeded to ask her questions about our product, which he didn’t buy. He then asked her out after work, which she declined and asked him to leave because the store was closed.

He then waited in the hallway for her to exit the shop, when she noticed him she called security to walk her to the car park.

The customer trailed behind all the way out to the carpark and stood waiting for her to get into her car. Security asked him to leave and he went to his vehicle but did not leave.

My staff member had a friend pick her up and drive her around the block before dropping her back at her car, once he was gone.

She’s freaking out that he will be able to find our address or car (she has a personalised plate), because he is a lawyer. But I am not sure.

I am extremely concerned, however, and have banned him from the store and the incident has been filed with the centre’s security who have security camera footage and his face.

I don’t know what else I can do though, please give me advice and help.
