False Rape Accusation With No Charges. Acquaintance Spreads Rumours.

In 2022, I went on a few dates with a woman. Contact went nowhere as she had a panic attack after initiating sex, then trauma dumping about an ex that she had a restraining order for "trying to kill her". Around late 2024 - early 2025, while at a bar, I encountered her again. I was caught off guard during this encounter as she publicly accused me of raping her in front of my friends. One of my friends sided with her despite there being no evidence and began spreading these allegations to others. I haven't had and still do not have any pending or ongoing charges against me.
Since then, I have been dealing with serious consequences: several groups of friends from college have cut me off, rumors have damaged my reputation locally, I have been banned from dating apps (recent event), and I’ve struggled with significant emotional distress. It has now been about a year since these false allegations were circulated. I've recently learned from a girl that I met on a dating app that the rumours were still going around, and it's from the same guy.
I am seeking to file a civil lawsuit against the friend who knowingly spread this false information, as their actions have caused substantial reputational, social, and emotional damage to me. I'm not sure what options I have at the moment would like some advice.
