Ex Added Me As Guarantor For Dentist

Card image cap

Location: New Jersey USA

My ex setup a dentist appointment for my child and listed me as the guarantor. Now they are ignoring my communication about paying their part. My child (20) just came home with a bill. The bill is over $800. I don't want to take my ex to court - I always lose. What should I do? Can I just call the dentist and point out that I did not make this appointment or agree to pay anything? Or go there and pay what I owe (800 - 250) /2 = $275? If she pays her part I'll pay mine.

Backstory: We're divorced. My oldest child is 20 and has been ruled (I forget the word but I don't pay child support for them). I still am responsible for their healthcare. They live with me full time. I have another child who is a minor, they live with me 50% of the time - though it's really far more. We recently went to court - I took them to court to lower my child support since my oldest lives with me full time and my ex makes significantly more now then when things were figured years ago. The increased my child support haha oh well. I pay like $350 a month plus 100% of health insurance cost. Anyway my ex is supposed to pay the first $250 and then we split the rest.
