Dog Bite Case.

Card image cap

Location: Connecticut

End of may 2025, I was attacked by a dog while working as a mail carrier. The homeowner had just installed a new fence but the gate latching mechanism wasn’t locking properly - the dog was able to escape through the side yard gate and brutally attacked me. I got 12 stitches on my lower leg, was on crutches for 2 months unable to work and walk well and still have visible scars and daily pain 5 months later. I hired a smaller personal injury firm about 2 weeks after the injury happened. They’ve supposedly sent 2-3 demand letters to the homeowner over the past 4 months, but the homeowner has never responded at all - complete silence and no update to the case except all my medical records and police report It’s now been 4 months since I hired them and they still haven’t filed an actual lawsuit after homeowner is completely negligent. Is this normal? I thought after letters get ignored, lawyers are supposed to file pretty quickly. I’m starting to wonder if the homeowner even received the letters. Is it normal for people to not providing information and ignore something like this? Should I be worried about my lawyers not taking action? Thank you so much for your help.
