Dash Cam Footage Has Redacted Audio

Location: Effingham County, Georgia I was pulled over in Effingham County GA by the sheriffs department. I flashed my headlights for a speed trap and a sheriff coming the other direction saw me. He spun behind me and pulled me over. When he got behind me I immediately turned on my signal as I was in the far left lane and turned into a parking lot. When he got out the car he asked why I flashed my lights and I told him “there was another officer ahead so I warned of the speed trap”. He and I had a short back and forth where I really got him pissed off. My son was in the back and my wife next to me. My son asked “whats going on?” And I told him that “this is the state just trying to flex its muscles”. I guess this got him really fired up. Anyway, he sited me for failure to dim headlights and failure to signal saying that “I have to pull to the right, I can’t turn left”.

So all that said, I asked for the dashcam footage. The solicitors office didn’t have it yet (after 4 days). The citation was on the 13th and they didn’t have it yet on the 17th. At this point I went strait to the sheriffs office and asked for the footage from them. I filled out my form and was talking with a ranking officer about filing a complaint as well as reviewing the details of the citation. While having this conversation I was sent the footage. When I got home I watched it but some of the audio is completely redacted. When the officer first approaches my car our initial conversation is redacted. A couple minutes later while getting into his car he makes a call (you can hear his phone ring an outbound call). He immediately steps out of his vehicle and walks away behind his vehicle out of sight. As soon as his phone starts to ring whatever conversation he was having is completely redacted. For context he is pretty fresh out of the academy but his dad is chief of police in a neighboring town, did he maybe call him?

Either way what can I do about getting unadulterated footage? Are they allowed to just do this?
