Covid Relief Denied By Ex Employer Claiming Me On Their Payroll?

Card image cap

Before Covid I got fired from a restaurant over a phone call with a customer, called the menu convoluted and it got recorded, two months into returning to a management position.

Months later I was working in the live audio and stage hand industry when Covid came. Completely shut my ability to work down, no shows, no conventions. My boss stood over my shoulder while I applied assuring me I should be good for a few grand at least but it kept coming back denied citing something about skinnyfats, the restaurant.

Recently a friend told me they claimed me on their payroll for additional Covid kickbacks and that’s why I got denied pandemic assistance, but also that I should sue considering how much it derailed my life. Had to join a new industry, unable to pay off a loan that I’m actually about to be sued for now. I’m technically homeless, crashing with a friend.

Is that realistic to sue for? Would it be too far back? And if I’m broke…. Would there even be an attorney who would pick the case up or see money in it?

Thanks.
