Car Accident Legal Advice

Card image cap

This is my first posting on the sub. Location: California

I was recently involved in a car accident that left me with an injury.

I was stopped in a left turn lane waiting for traffic to make a left. Turn when one of the drivers from the oncoming traffic lane veered into the left turn lane and hit me head on. There was no time to react or do anything. The driver admitted to being distracted I also have dash cam footage of the incident.

I've been in lots of fender benders, but nothing like this before. Ambulance and police were on scene. There was a police report taken. I went to the ER to get x-rays to determine I had an injury.

My insurance company has completed their investigation and is just waiting on the evaluation of my vehicle which I know is totaled.

I am just posting this because I'm assuming I'm going to be given a low ball settlement from my insurance company so I'm thinking I should reach out to a lawyer. I share the same insurance carrier as the other party.

I'm just looking for advice on how to proceed to make sure I don't get the short end of the stick when my insurance company reaches out to me for a payout. I want to consider future cost of recovery from my injury costs for pain and suffering, etc. etc. thanks in advance for any information on where to start.
