Can My “friend” Get Away With Stealing 700$ Worth Of Items From Me ?

Location: Los Angeles, CA. So my "friend" Male 27. stole 700$ worth of items. That includes a new PS5 console. An extra remote, 2 video games. Worst part is this was suppose to be a gift for someone.

l asked him to at least pay me and nothing, he just blocked me and ghosted me.

I even know where he lives, works and where his KIDS GO TO SCHOOL AT. I even know he's in a custody battle with his baby momma and he puts his kids in bad situation where he takes them to work at DTLA streets. Still has the audacity to do this to me.

This is so sad and frustrating. I can't do much and he knows it. He took advantage of me because I am weak and frankly my ADD doesn't help.

Would filing a police report really help? I've done research online from people that gotten things stolen and cops usually don't do much, so they say.

Is there anything else I can do ? I have full proof of purchased items all together. No proof of conversion with this man that stole from me. I went to his home and knocked a few times and "nobody" is home. Even left a NOTE. Nothing. I really need help. He can't get away with this.
