Can My Employer Require Me To Wear A Bra If I Have A Medical Reason Not To?
Location: Minnesota, US. This hasn’t happened yet. But I’ve had a couple of coworkers comment on my nipples showing slightly when I’m cold at work. I usually have enough layers for it to not be prominent and I also have almost no boobs, so it’s not like they’re bouncing everywhere. But I have scoliosis and other issues with my discs. I’ve found it hurts my back any time I have anything even somewhat tight around my upper back, so I don’t wear a bra.
I get nervous because my coworkers are the type to complain about things to my boss and create a big deal about random things when they’re bored…
Just wondering if they could even require me wearing a bra because of my medical issues or if it would be discriminatory anyways because it’s not like they’d require my male coworker to wear a bra? Also our dress code says nothing about bras.
Edit: can someone please just answer this question since it seems like a gray area for the discrimination part: even if they could put it in the dress code, would they have to accommodate for my medical issues that prevent me from wearing one?
