Blamed For Car Accident I Was Not In.
Location: WI for context I just had a baby and needed an emergency d&c yesterday so I have been at home resting with my baby all day. My dad calls me and says that someone hit my car and that I need to come to the scene because they need to verify my car is insured. I had no idea that my dad even took my car out until he called me so he did not have my permission to use it. So when I get there the cop asks me what happened and I said well I guess this happened and told him what my dad had said but I wasnt sure what truly happened. That was the last time he talked to me until handing me a ticket. I guess my dad told the cop I was the driver during the accident and he just believed him. Before I could tell the cop my dad was the one driving he had already drove off. I begged my dad to come clean but he said he wouldn’t because he’d have a bigger ticket for not being insured on my car. I’ve also told my dad MULTIPLE times not to use my car because he’s not insured on it but he does not listen. So I guess my question is how do I get this off my record and prove that my dad blamed me when I wasn’t even at the accident? I mean my boyfriend can verify I was at home at the time but would that be enough? Also because the cop assumed I was driving instead of asking me would they think I lied to the cop if I tried to prove my dad lied? Any advice would help, thank you.
