Being Sued For Not Signing Over A Vehicle Title. Michigan.

Card image cap

Was with a woman who is now my ex. Her brother needed transportation 6 months ago. We agreed to $2000. I paid the insurance the whole time. He never paid me a dime. He trashed it more while owning it. It wasn't in perfect condition when I loaned it buts it's much more damaged now. Woman and I break up this last week. He texts me asking for the title. I'm emotionally distraught, hoping this could fix things with the ex. I send a text sating ok. I then change my mind and say I want the car back the same day i said yes, and if he doesn't return it I'll have no other choice but to report it stolen. i show up the next day with a tow truck. He calls the cops. Says he has paid 1500 in repairs and labor. Cop explains that it's legally mine and he can't keep it. I take it home and asses the damage. He hit a dear on the front right fender, broke the mirror and one the doors now does not open.

The next feiday I get served. He is sueing because I said I would sign over the title, but i changed my mind the same day.

Am I in trouble,?

Is it illegal to change my mind?
