A Stalker Has Been Trying To Contact Me For 13 Years.

Location: Illinois

In 2012 I went to a concert and a friend of mine brought along his friend. Everything seemed fine, I guess, and we exchanged numbers. Later we went to another concert or two, and an afterparty or two. After that I decided I didn’t care for this person, deleted their number, and deleted them from all social media. There was never any kind of fight or argument, or any sort of major issue. I just wasn't interested, and moved on.

For the past 13 years this person has been trying to contact me and my friends from new random numbers. I’m not sure how someone can get so many new numbers, as I block every single one. I would not be surprised if it is getting close to 100 new numbers at this point.

In the first few years of this happening, this person would impersonate me by contacting my friends saying I changed my number, and asking what the plans are and stuff like that. They would also message me impersonating my friends, claiming to be new numbers and the same thing basically. We would always figure it out eventually, and block them again.

As the years when on, this morphed into mostly just sending me messages, always with similar patterns and referencing raves and concerts from unknown numbers, and giving me weird life "advice" if you can even call it that. They also like to use Google Translate to translate their texts into Polish or German, as they know I am Polish and German (and they were really tickled by this for whatever reason). This makes it very easy to identify its this person.

I would occasionally get frustrated and message them to stop messaging me before blocking. However, in the past 3 years I haven’t even done that. Just instant block and delete, zero response. But they still come, even as recently as last week.

This whole entire time I’ve been deleting these because I don’t even want to see them or think about them. However, I’ve just turned 40 and this is getting ridiculous. I want nothing to do with this person. I’d prefer to forget they exist, and absolutely never want to see them again. I mean, we already haven't in 13 years!

I’m genuinely asking, what should I do in this situation? Has deleting all of these been a mistake? Does this even qualify as a "stalker" or do I just need to grow thicker skin and accept this is going to happen and try to live with it?

I did hear on the grapevine about 5 years ago he popped up at a bachelor party, which I was not at, and was making a very aggressive attempt to find out from people where I live currently, so that’s another aspect to all this.

Appreciate any thoughts or advice.

EDIT: forgot to mention I'm a man, and they are also a man, if that matters.
