(tx) I'm Moving Out Of My Apartment Sooner Than My Lease End Date. Landlord Says I Must Pay Past My Lease End Date, And That If She Rents To Another Party Sooner I Must Still Pay.

Location: Houston. As in the title, I am renting an apartment in Houston and my contract ends July 15. I notified my landlord (and the leasing agency) about a month ago that I would be moving out and the apartment has been on the market since. The contract states I must notify at least a month prior to my lease end date (which I did). I was planning on leaving today but still paying through July 15.
Today as I was moving out the ceiling of the apartment started to leak. I notified my landlord who told me that I would have to coordinate a plumber and could not leave until this happened. She also told me that my contract stated that my lease ends July 31. I pulled up my contract which clearly stated otherwise and she told me that since the apartment hadn't gone on the market until around June 15 I am required to pay through the start of August.
Furthermore that she told me that it does not matter if someone rents the unit sooner than my lease end date I will still have to pay (as will they) and that I will also have to pay for electricity until August. I told her that sounded like double dipping (am I using that term correctly?) and she replied that if I don't do as she says she will take my security deposit. She told me to get a lawyer if I disagree.
Is this...legal? It seems super sketchy.
