[ny] Gym Forged My Signature On A Contract Twice, Now It's Gone To Collections

I signed up for a gym member at Crunch Fitness well over a year ago. They didn't require me to sign any contracts, they just sent out friendly email reminders that I needed to sign the contract, but I never did. This never interfered with my ability to use the gym.

Fast forward, I stopped going to the gym for a while, and decided to cancel. They put up a fight over it, of course, which lead to me just canceling the virtual card I use for the gym so they couldn't charge me. Apparently the renewal came up and they charged $60+ during this time, which I obviously didn't pay.

Fast forward to today, Aldous & Associates is now reaching out to settle the debt. It's nothing crazy (<$100) but I don't really have the extra cash available either, I have more pressing issues I need to tend to at the moment.

Obviously I never signed a contract, so I thought I might have a leg to stand on. Turns out, there's an email from May 6th:

Attached is a copy of your agreement.

Agreement #: xxxxxx

Attached is a SIGNED CONTRACT, except the signature is obviously not mine and looks absolutely nothing like my signature. It's a poor pseudo-cursive signature, whereas my signature has always been in proper cursive.

Then on May 20th I got another email, same exact email format, with the same attached form with even more signatures that don't match my own.

This seems to be illegal, especially since they are actively going to try using it to collect a debt. What are my options here? Is this worth pursuing? How can I even prove it's not my signature? Two signed contracts with vastly different signatures on each has to prove something, right?
