Samsung didn’t deploy the Exynos chip in the Galaxy S25 series, which reportedly cost it nearly $400 million. The company’s 3nm product couldn’t reach the production threshold, leading to its ultimate cancellation.

Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy gave a $400M blow to Samsung

Tipster Jukanlosreve estimates that Samsung has faced a $400 million loss due to equipping the Galaxy S25 series solely with the Snapdragon chipset.

The company’s System LSI division, which has designed the Exynos 2500 processor, has reportedly had an “estimated loss of around $400 million” just because to failure omission.

Qualcomm is enjoying 100% participation in Galaxy S25’s supply. Reports emerged of MediaTek SoCs in the Galaxy S25 series, but such bold shifts can’t be made without thorough consideration and long-term goals.

Well, Samsung continues to put efforts into reviving its contract manufacturing business. The company is in talks with Qualcomm to produce the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, to be used in the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8, using its 2nm node.

Exynos 2300 and Exynos 2500

The same was true for the Galaxy S23 series, which was launched exclusively with Snapdragon chipsets, regardless of region. However, the Galaxy S24 and Plus models were equipped with Exynos 2400 in most markets.

At a lower yield rate, Samsung has reportedly tapped Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. This is the first time a foldable phone is getting Samsung’s in-house chipset, designed by System LSI and manufactured by Samsung Foundry.
