Global Spotlight On Inclusion At The 9th International Diversity Conference

This week, the Brazilian LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Tourism will hold the 9th International Diversity Conference, between September 09 and 12, 2025, at the São Luís Events Center, in Sao Paulo. Professionals involved with the event’s thematic axes can register free of charge via the Sympla platform.
The conference has consolidated itself as a meeting point for professionals from many strategic areas who strive to promote diversity, with a focus on LGBTI+ community’s demands and the development of an inclusive economy. As one of the main events dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion, and fostering LGBT business and tourism in Brazil, the Conference’s programming will include debates, strategic connections, and business opportunities.
For Mr. Ricardo Gomes, the LGBT Chamber’s Chairman, this year’s Conference will reaffirm its role as a strategic space for discussions about LGBT+ tourism, inclusive business, and sports and culture dedicated to the LGBTI+ community. “It will be important for us to hold the event this year, considering all barriers we have been facing, because we need to remain strong and reaffirm that we defend a legitimate and urgent cause. We want to be a fertile ground to foster business opportunities in the event’s thematic areas, while also promoting a connection between them, since we understand that sports and culture should and must foster tourism, which on its turn can do the same in regard to sports and culture, and all of them together can drive business opportunities for the community”, Mr. Gomes highlighted.
Thematic axes in the event’s programming
- LGBT Tourism (09/10): Dedicated to tourism trade professionals, the first day of the event will count on spaces for networking and to allow lecturers and the sector’s business partners and representatives to exchange experiences, in addition to a knowledge arena that will showcase the current trends and movements associated to LGBT tourism, and the best practices to foster this segment.
- Diverse Business (09/11): Dedicated to large corporations committed to diversity in their value chain, or interested in comprehending and implementing inclusion practices in their daily operations, as well as to companies mostly ran by LGBTI+ community members. It will be an opportunity for corporations to get to know about the possibilities of implementing diversity in their value chain, and for LGBT business people to know the possibilities of driving their businesses by providing products and services to large corporations through the LGBTChamber’s Diverse Suppliers Program;
- Sports & Culture (12/09): Dedicated to promoting LGBTI+ representativeness in the sports and cultural segments, it will gather companies, public administrators, and people responsible for social initiatives in this sector. One of the purposes of this day’s programming will be to bring existing projects into the spotlight, to foster new projects, and to debate how to work in synergy to drive business in the culture and sports segments, in addition to boosting tourism through the events promoted by both segments.
International Press Trip to Bahia
One of the novelties during the 9th Conference will be the International Press Trip to Bahia, to be held between September 13 and 18. This event will gather journalists and influencers from Europe and the Americas.
The Conference’s first International Press Trip was organized in 2019, promoted then by the LGBT Chamber in partnership with the Tourism Secretariat of the city of Sao Paulo. In 2025, this action will be back with an enlarged experience, so journalists can know the cultural and natural wealth of the State of Bahia, in addition to taking part in the 14th LGBTPride Parade of the city of Salvador. The purpose here will be to disclose the cultural, historical and natural diversity of the State of Bahia, and to highlight it as a reference destination for LGBTI+ tourism.
A part of those journalists will also attend the Conference and take part in a panel to discuss their expectations about travelling to Brazil, and how they see Brazil as a destination for LGBTI+ community tourists.This initiative will count on the support of Setur Bahia (Tourism Secretariat of the State of Bahia) and Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Board), and the idea is to make it a fixed feature, starting from this year’s edition, in the Conference’s calendar, and to invite journalists and influencers to visita different destination in Brazil every year.
