G Adventures and National Geographic Expeditions have announced the addition of 14 new itineraries to their joint portfolio of small-group tours. With this expansion, the “National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures” collection now features 106 trips across 59 destinations, with the first departures for the new itineraries scheduled to begin in April 2026.

The newly introduced itineraries cover a range of emerging and popular destinations, including China, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, mainland Greece, the Greek islands, the Balkans, and Mexico’s Day of the Dead festivities. In parallel, two new “National Geographic Family Journeys” have been launched, marking the program’s first foray into Egypt and Portugal with trips designed for multigenerational travellers.

Kyrgyzstan, Song Kul.

The partnership between the two brands, which began in 2015, focuses on educational, immersive, and culturally respectful experiences. According to G Adventures, the itineraries aim to go beyond conventional sightseeing by offering local encounters and hands-on experiences. These journeys are typically 8 to 23 days long and include activities inspired by National Geographic’s values in exploration, science, education, and storytelling.

Examples of cultural and nature-based highlights include:

  • Exploring the submerged forest of Kaindy Lake in Kazakhstan
  • Sharing meals with nomadic Kyrgyz communities and Tajik bakers in remote villages
  • Meeting South Korea’s Haenyeo divers – elderly women who free-dive for seafood on Jeju Island
  • Visiting China’s Zhangjiajie National Park and bamboo rafting in Yangshuo
  • Participating in Mexico’s Day of the Dead celebrations, including community parades and candlelit cemeteries

The two new family-focused itineraries are structured to appeal to both adults and children. In Egypt, families can explore the Nile by cruise and enjoy historical storytelling, while the Portugal itinerary includes active experiences like surfing lessons and e-bike tours.

Greece, Naxos.

For the travel trade, the expansion indicates continued demand for small-group, culturally immersive tourism. The Journeys and Family Journeys programs align with broader trends in experiential travel and responsible tourism, with a focus on community engagement and sustainability. G Adventures also notes that these programs support local economic development through its community tourism model.

This development comes at a time when tour operators are seeking to diversify destination offerings and cater to travellers looking for slower, more meaningful exploration. The addition of lesser-visited destinations like the Stans, along with deepened regional itineraries in Europe and Asia, may offer new opportunities for agents and operators working with culturally curious and adventure-oriented clients.

All new trips are available for booking, with departures beginning in April 2026.
