Epic Universe will feature five worlds, over 50 attractions
Universal has revealed details about its upcoming theme park, 'Epic Universe,' set to open next summer in Orlando.
  • Universal Orlando's Epic Universe will feature five immersive "portals" when it opens on May 22.
  • The portals include Celestial Park, How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, Super Nintendo World, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic.
  • Each land will feature unique rides, attractions, dining, and shopping experiences based on popular franchises.

Universal Orlando's Epic Universe is set to be its most ambitious theme park yet, and an official first look into its worlds is backing up those claims.

Slated to open May 22, Epic Universe will transport guests into five highly imaginative themed lands, which they call portals, with over 50 one-of-a-kind experiences.

"The new theme park will present a level of immersion and innovation that is unmatched as it unlocks the portals to five astounding worlds: Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk and Dark Universe – each filled with extraordinary adventures that go beyond guests’ wildest imagination," Universal said in a Monday news release.

Single-day tickets and multi-ticket packages for Epic Universe went on sale Thursday.

Last week, the park announced over 20 retail experiences, from cosplay makeup to shops selling new merchandise inspired by the worlds. The park's food – which has been in the works for the last five years – is also going to be a sensory experience.

Here's the first look into Epic Universe.

Every guest who arrives at Epic Universe will pass through the Chronos to enter the first world, Celestial Park. It'll be home to relaxing gardens, a “wet play area,” a grand carousel and Stardust Racers, a dual-launch racing roller coaster with speeds up to 62 miles per hour.

Not only is it the park's starting point, but Celestial Park will also be the gateway to access Epic Universe’s four other worlds through themed portals.

Inspired by the “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise, Isle of Berk takes after the sweeping vistas from the movies, including a sprawling lagoon, two 40-foot-tall Viking statues and a bustling village set above the seas. This world will feature three rides, themed eateries and shops where you can dress up as a Viking or adopt your own dragon.

Classic monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein seem to reside in the Dark Universe's "shadowy village" called Darkmoor.

"The icon of this ominous world is Frankenstein Manor, where guests will venture deep into its catacombs and face a horde of enraged monsters on Universal Orlando’s most chilling attraction ever - Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment," Universal said.

Paying homage to Nintendo's favorite video game characters is Super Nintendo World. Guests can access this colorful, digital-esque world through a large green pipe, an iconic characteristic of Nintendo games. They can explore famous Nintendo sites like Mt. Beanpole, meet characters like Peach and Donkey Kong and get an interactive Power-Up Band to collect digital coins and unlock other hidden surprises.

All the wizardry from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts come together in the Ministry of Magic. Guests will start in a Muggle park in Paris before heading to the 1920s-era Place Cachée, a hidden shopping district with restaurants and a full-scale theatre experience, called Le Cirque Arcanus, in wizarding Paris. Then they can journey to the British Ministry of Magic to witness the trial of the infamous Dolores Umbridge on the "Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry" ride.

Single-day tickets to Epic Universe start at $139 and can go up to $199 during peak periods. Annual passholders can purchase single-day tickets at a discounted price.

Universal also announced that guests can now purchase 2-Day tickets:

  • 1-Park 1-Day Base, Plus 1-Day Universal Epic Universe Ticket: One day of access to Universal Studios Florida or Universal Islands of Adventure, plus one separate day of admission to Universal Epic Universe.
  • 2-Park, 1-Day Park-to-Park, Plus 1-Day Universal Epic Universe Ticket: One day of access to Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure, plus one separate day admission to Universal Epic Universe.
