Bbn Airlines Indonesia Secures Easa Authorisation For Eu Operations

BBN Airlines Indonesia, part of the Avia Solutions Group, has received authorisation from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to operate flights within the European Union. The approval, effective from 5 September 2025, grants the airline the Third-Country Operator (TCO) certificate required for non-European carriers flying to or within EU member states.
The TCO framework ensures that non-EU airlines comply with European safety and operational standards. Once authorised, carriers can apply for commercial air operations permits across all EASA states without the need for separate approvals in each country.
Martynas Grigas, Chairman of BBN Airlines Indonesia
Martynas Grigas, Chairman of BBN Airlines Indonesia, described the development as a pivotal achievement for the airline. “Securing the EASA TCO marks an important milestone for BBN Airlines Indonesia. It reflects not only our unwavering commitment to global safety and compliance standards but also our readiness to support airlines with scalable ACMI solutions as they expand into and within the EU market,” he said.
Expanding ACMI capacity
BBN Airlines Indonesia specialises in ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) services, supporting airlines that require additional capacity on a short- or long-term basis. With the new authorisation, the airline can extend this model to European partners, offering added flexibility in managing fleet and crew requirements.
The airline currently operates a fleet of six Boeing 737 aircraft, with two more due to join by October 2025. Earlier this year, it also achieved the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification, further demonstrating compliance with global operational safety benchmarks.
The approval also positions BBN Airlines Indonesia to deploy aircraft to Europe during peak travel seasons. Seasonal demand in Europe often drives carriers to seek wet lease capacity, and the TCO authorisation allows BBN to participate in this market. The arrangement enables the airline to serve European operators during the summer peak while continuing ACMI operations in its home and regional markets during the rest of the year.
For BBN Airlines Indonesia, the authorisation represents more than regulatory compliance. It is also a strategic step in expanding its footprint beyond Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region. The company aims to position itself as a flexible ACMI provider capable of supporting carriers across multiple regions, particularly where additional capacity is needed most.
With its IOSA certification, expanding fleet, and now EASA TCO authorisation, the airline is positioned to strengthen partnerships with carriers seeking reliable short-term or seasonal capacity in the EU.
