Seahawks Add A Fullback As Robbie Ouzts Remains Out
The Seattle Seahawks announced one signing on Thursday afternoon, adding fullback Brock Lampe, who went undrafted out of Northern Illinois last year.
To make room, tight end Lance Mason was waived. Mason, who also went undrafted, signed with Seattle in May and participated in rookie minicamp, organized team activites (OTA’s) as well as the first week of training camp.
Lampe played his entire collegiate career with the Huskies, spending three season under then head coach Thomas Hammock, who joined the Seahawks as a senior offensive assistant/running backs coach in the offseason.
He began his college careeer as a linebacker, before switching to fullback ahead of his sophomore season in 2022. Standing in at 6’1, 249lbs, he profiles as a traditional physical blocker, who helped anchor a rushing attack that averaged an outlandish 203.8 rushing yards per game in his senior season.
After going undrafted, Lampe signed with the New England Patriots, but missed his entire rookie campaign while on injured reserve, after suffering a leg injury in training camp. He returned for OTA’s, but was waived by the team on July 22.
Robbie Ouzts, who ended last season with a neck injury sustained in the NFC Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers, has missed the last several practices and his injury status remains uncertain. Mike Macdonald does not have any updates regarding his health and he has not disclosed the injury.
