Ricky Pearsall Admits 49ers' Wide Receiver Changes Are ‘definitely Not Normal'

Ricky Pearsall admits 49ers' wide receiver changes are ‘definitely not normal' originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The 49ers have experienced plenty of change in the wide receiver room this offseason.
After the loss of Deebo Samuel, several question marks emerged regarding the receivers who still are on the team, including when Brandon Aiyuk will return from ACL and MCL injuries, Jauan Jennings’ contract situation, Demarcus Robinson’s three-game suspension, and other injuries throughout camp.
This has led to a variety of receivers, from young talent to veteran playmakers, coming in and out of 49ers camp this summer. Naturally, all the change has taken some getting used to for second-year receiver Ricky Pearsall.
“Yeah, I mean, I think it’s definitely not normal,” Pearsall told reporters Thursday of the change. “It’s definitely different. And we all know that, but that’s OK. It’s not always going to be the same. Life’s full of adversity. Life’s full of different changes. It’s just about how you react and what you’re going to do from that.
“We can sit there and be like, ‘OK, we’re short in numbers, we’re thin,’ and we can complain about it. Or we can put our heads down and go to work. So I think that’s what we’re doing. That’s what we’re going for.”
The newest name and face Pearsall will have to learn is Skyy Moore, the 24-year-old wide receiver San Francisco acquired in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday.
Jacob Cowing is dealing with a hamstring injury, Jordan Watkins has a high ankle sprain, and Russell Gage
Gage sprained his MCL and will be sidelined for seven to 10 days.
Pearsall, whom the 49ers drafted in the first round last year, has been taking the first-team reps with Jennings and Aiyuk both sidelined.
His chemistry with quarterback Brock Purdy has flourished, but the real test, of course, will come in regular-season action.
And while there’s been nothing but constant change around him, Pearsall’s approach to the game will remain the same as he braces for Year 2.
