Quinn Ewers' Miami Dolphins Jersey Number Harkens Back To Nfl Draft Fall

Quinn Ewers has a new number now that he's in the Miami Dolphins. Ewers has spent all of his career wearing the No. 3. He was No. 3 at Southlake Carroll High School, at Ohio State and with the Texas Longhorns. But veteran K.J. Britt already has that number in Miami, so Ewers chose a number that is derived from his disappointing fall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Ewers will wear No. 14. He will be the first No. 14 in Miami since Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2020. But he didn't pick No. 14 to honor Fitzpatrick. Ewers was the 14th quarterback chose in the NFL Draft. Ewers was the 231st pick in the seventh round.

"It was very unexpected, and I think that the toughest part about it is just the amount of unexpected occurrences there were," Ewers told ESPN NFL reporter Todd Archer. "But I'm glad that I ended up where I ended up. To go as late as I did, I'm glad it's a good spot."

"It's definitely a lot of motivation that comes with it, especially just being the last [quarterback] drafted," Ewers said. "I still have high expectations for myself, but just from the outside looking in, this is the first time in my life to not have that much expectation. There's definitely motivation and fuel. A lot of it."
