Nick Sirianni: Kevin Patullo Still Eagles' Play Caller After Mini Bye
Nick Sirianni: Kevin Patullo still Eagles' play caller after mini bye originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
Head coach Nick Sirianni said the Eagles are “evaluating everything” as they return from a mini bye week after two tough losses.
But he also said Kevin Patullo is still the offensive play caller with a one-word answer.
“Yeah,” Sirianni said on Monday afternoon.
The Eagles’ offense has struggled throughout the 2025 season but has been even worse in the four games since their bye week. The Eagles have averaged just 15 1/2 points in their last four games and have lost their last two.
After losing to the Cowboys 24-21 in Dallas, the Eagles returned home to lose to the Bears 24-15 on Black Friday. They had some extra time for a self-scout this weekend.
“Everything was being evaluated,” Sirianni said. “We’ll think about some things that we want to do all over the place, scheme, everything. But I don’t think it benefits us for me to share, in particular, what that is.
“Just know this: We want to get this thing fixed more than anybody. We live it, breathe it, involved in it every waking second of our lives. So that’s what we’re working on right now.”
On Friday evening, Sirianni said he was sticking with Patullo as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator and play caller but it was worth asking again after the Eagles’ coaching staff spent the weekend reviewing everything.
And while Sirianni continues to claim publicly that Patullo will remain in his post, it’s worth noting that he also spoke on Monday about how it doesn’t benefit the Eagles to share any specifics of potential changes.
Back in 2023, the Eagles even let then-defensive coordinator Sean Desai speak publicly in a December press conference after they had already demoted him in favor of Matt Patricia.
This is Sirianni’s fifth season as the Eagles’ head coach and he has made a major switch in two of his first four years. In 2023, he switched from Desai to Patricia at DC. And in 2021, he stripped himself of offensive play-calling duties and handed over the play sheet to Shane Steichen.
Sirianni on Monday was asked why this situation is different than those previous two.
“I do believe that both of them are different scenarios,” Sirianni said. “I know it was a change in play caller but slightly different, particularly on the offensive side. Again, it isn’t just one person. It’s the ultimate team game. We are working through everything. I have a lot of faith in all the players, I have a lot of faith in all the coaches.
“We gotta execute it better and we’ve got to scheme it better. All can be true. And we gotta call it better. It’s every area that we need to improve on.”
Before this year, Patullo spent the previous four seasons as the Eagles’ passing game coordinator. Patullo came with Sirianni from Indianapolis and has been considered his right-hand man. Patullo was promoted this offseason after Kellen Moore left for the Saints’ head coaching job after just one season in Philly.
The Eagles’ offense through 12 games is ranked 19th in points and 24th in yards despite having the highest offensive payroll in the NFL. If the Eagles were to eventually make a change at play caller, they have some options: Sirianni, QBs coach Scott Loeffler, passing game coordinator Parks Frazier, etc.
