More Gyms Are Integrating Glp-1s Into Their Offerings, Report Finds
Gyms are evolving to keep up with climbing GLP-1 adoption, offering muscle-preservation workouts, telehealth partnerships and integrated wellness services
As GLP-1 use surges across the U.S., more fitness operators are offering programs, workouts or services tailored around the drugs.
A new report from Inspire360 found that 23 fitness operators and wellness clubs now offer some form of a GLP-1 program or related service, up from 17 earlier this year.
Those approaches range from adapted programming for GLP-1 users, to in-house clinics, to creating referral loops in which gyms refer members to clinics, and clinics refer patients to fitness clubs for support.
It comes as GLP-1 use continues growing — 13.2% of U.S. adults have now taken one, up from 12.4% last quarter and roughly double the rate of three years ago, according to the report.
Newcomers include Orangetheory Fitness, which was originally reluctant to adapt its programming to GLP-1s. However, for its 2026 Transformation Challenge the group fitness brand highlighted the importance of building sustainable muscle-building habits, especially for those on GLP-1s who could face muscle atrophy amid rapid weight loss.
Gym chain 24 Hour Fitness is also leaning into adapted programming for GLP-1 users, the report highlights, with muscle-preservation and recovery programming.
Major regional chains have been adapting as well. New York Sports Club (NYSC) notably struck a partnership with telehealth platform Thrive to offer members greater access to GLP-1 medications and other wellness and longevity treatments. The move was designed to increase membership value across its locations in New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
O2 Fitness, down in North Carolina and South Carolina, made a similar play, also partnering with Thrive to provide members access to biomarker testing, GLP-1s and hormone optimization, while Body Balance Boulder struck a deal with platform Asher Med to increase member access to the weight-loss drugs.
New to the list is also fitness management platform Daxko, looking to boost GLP-1 integration across its industry ecosystem through its newly launched Elevate Wellness, meant to help gyms and clubs provide GLP-1 support by bridging fitness operators and licensed telemedicine providers.
