Jets' Miserable 2-minute Drive Confuses Fans, Analyst Kurt Warner: 'not Really Sure What I Just Watched'

It's extremely rare for a broadcaster to openly show disgust for a team during a game they are covering, but that's the magic of the New York Jets, who fell to 0-6 after losing 13-11 to the Denver Broncos on Sunday in London

With the team trailing by four points at the end of the second quarter, the Jets proceeded to pull off a drive so miserable and puzzling that even color commentator Kurt Warner couldn't properly analyze it.

Trailing 10-6, the Jets forced a punt with 3:22 left before halftime. Despite plenty of time, the team seemed content to run out the clock and play for the third quarter. After two straight runs to open the drive, Justin Fields completed a third-down conversion to extend the drive.

At that point, the two-minute conversion hit, and many expected the team to push things to try and get a score before halftime. Instead, the Jets ran on two of the next three plays. After failing to convert, the Jets lined up for a punt on fourth-and-1.

They faked it. Running back Breece Hall converted, giving the Jets new life with 1:48 to play. New York called a timeout after the play, suggesting the Jets were ready to push the ball downfield. Instead, they ran it again and called another timeout.

With one timeout remaining, the Jets called another run play. Fields was sacked on the next snap, causing the Jets to call their final timeout.

Facing a third-and-7, Fields completed a 6-yard pass to give the team a fourth-and-1 from their own 41-yard line. With the clock running, the Jets had one shot at a Hail Mary ... or a chance to maybe force a penalty to move closer and kick a field goal at the end of the half. Instead, the team let the clock run to zero.

It was a confusing and befuddling drive, one that had Warner asking fans for answers.

Somebody please explain that last Jets drive??? Not really sure what I just watched!

As you might expect, other than "it's the Jets," there was no logical explanation for the team's actions on its final drive before halftime. The lack of urgency combined with the timeouts, didn't make sense. At no point in the drive did the Jets seem motivated to score. Despite that, the team still ran a fake punt and used all its timeouts. And then, after all that, New York failed to even try a last-ditch play as the clock hit zero.

The whole sequence made it look obvious that the Jets did not trust their own offense against the Broncos. And while the fake punt and timeouts seem to suggest the opposite, that can probably just be chalked up to poor coaching.

That might be a harsh read of the situation, but there's a reason the Jets are 0-6.
