No more teachers, no more books — just summer gains at Planet Fitness as the gym giant’s High School Summer Pass program returns

School may soon be out for summer, but Planet Fitness is keeping the doors open for teens with the return of its High School Summer Pass program.

Now in its fifth year, the limited-time offer invites teens ages 14 to 19 to sign up for free club access at any of the fitness giant’s 2,700+ locations across the U.S. and Canada.

Teens can register here for club access beginning Sunday, June 1, with access available through August 31.

“At Planet Fitness, we offer a high-value experience to both our members and High School Summer Pass participants in a welcoming, Judgement Free environment where everyone can get a great workout,” Planet Fitness CEO Colleen Keating said. “With free access to our clubs throughout the summer, we’re providing teens with the tools they need to develop healthy fitness habits that can last a lifetime. We look forward to welcoming teens this summer to experience the mental and physical health benefits of exercise in the Judgement Free Zone.”

Keating had confirmed the return of the High School Summer Pass program during the company’s Q1 2025 earnings call this month, calling the cost-effective initiative “incredibly successful” at building brand loyalty. She also revealed that Gen Z remains the fastest-growing segment of Planet Fitness’ membership base.

High School Summer Pass participants receive access to Planet Fitness’ full lineup of strength and cardio equipment, including its new plate-loaded machines and designated stretching areas. The program also includes free training sessions led by certified fitness professionals, teen-specific workout plans focused on safe strength building and access to the Planet Fitness app with hundreds of on-demand workouts.

Since launching its High School Summer Pass in 2019, Planet Fitness has waived more than $300 million in membership fees to support teen health, aiming to build lasting fitness habits during a time when activity levels often dip. The company also highlights the mental health benefits of keeping teens active.

In a nationwide survey of parents and teens, Planet Fitness found that three in five teens say their stress and anxiety are getting worse. Sixty-six percent of parents expressed concern about their teen’s well-being, and 72% believe regular exercise can help. Among teens, 90% said working out makes them feel happier, while 88% reported an improved mood after physical activity. Although 93% of teens agree that regular exercise supports their overall well-being, half say their fitness declines during the summer and 81% admit social media and video games consume much of their day.

The fitness operator has teamed up with U.S. gymnast and Olympic Medalist Stephen Nedoroscik to drive awareness of the Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass Program and its benefits.

“Fitness and training have always been a huge part of my life – not just for competing, but for who I am as a person,” Nedoroscik said. “Staying at the top of my game, especially on the pommel horse, takes a ton of focus, discipline and consistency. I’ve been lucky to train in places and with people that make me feel supported – and that positive environment makes all the difference. That’s why I am excited to team up with Planet Fitness this summer to support their annual High School Summer Pass program. Giving teens free access to a place to move, feel confident, and chase their goals is powerful. It’s a chance for young people to discover their strength, inside and out.”
