Former Jets General Manager Joe Douglas Returning To Eagles In Senior Scouting Role

Former Jets general manager Joe Douglas is heading back to one of his former stops.

According to multiple reports, Douglas has been hired by the Philadelphia Eagles in a senior scouting role. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer was the first to report the news.

Douglas, 48, was hired by the Jets in June 2019, taking over for Mike Maccagnan. And while he drafted key pieces like Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, Breece Hall, Alijah Vera-Tucker, and Jermaine Johnson, and pulled off the blockbuster trade for Aaron Rodgers, the results simply weren’t there. The Jets went 30-64 with Douglas at the reins.

Douglas’ tenure in New York will likely be most remembered for selecting Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft. The Jets were hoping to secure a new face of the franchise, but Wilson struggled to develop into the quarterback the Jets thought they were getting, ending his three-year stint in New York with a 73.2 passer rating and a 12-21 record.

Douglas now returns to the Eagles, where he served as vice president of player personnel under GM Howie Roseman from 2016-2019, helping build a Super Bowl-winning roster in 2017.
