The upscale hotel brand has 29 new hotels in the pipeline

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has appointed Emma Darby as its new global vice president of spa and wellness, signaling the luxury brand’s growing focus on high-end wellness offerings across its international portfolio.

Darby, whose resume includes senior leadership roles at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and The Ritz-Carlton, most recently served as chief operating officer at Resense Spas. There, she oversaw operations for a global portfolio of luxury spas, driving growth through new openings and renovations.

In her new role, Darby will lead spa and wellness operations across Fairmont’s global portfolio of 92 properties. The upscale hotel brand confirms it has 29 new hotels in the works, including Fairmont Red Sea in Saudi Arabia and Fairmont Hanoi in Vietnam.

“Wellness has always been a personal passion of mine, so I’m thrilled to join a brand like Fairmont that shares this commitment to health and well-being and continues to build on such a strong foundation,” Darby said. “What really excites me is Fairmont’s unique position at the intersection of heritage, innovation and personalization. There’s a real opportunity to take wellness beyond the spa and weave it more holistically into the guest experience through movement, nourishment, rest and connection.”

As she settles into her new position, Darby’s focus will be on assessing the current wellness footprint across Fairmont’s properties and identifying opportunities to enhance the guest experience.

“Emma’s deep-rooted industry knowledge and experience sets the tone for a dynamic new chapter in the wellness space for Fairmont on a global level,” Fairmont Hotels & Resorts global chief operating officer Sami Nasser said. “As a passionate leader, I am confident Emma will drive operational excellence and strategic growth with a personalized, hands-on approach, which has been a defining characteristic throughout her unique career.”

Earlier this year, Fairmont Hotel announced Basin Glacial Waters, an upcoming thermal bathing experience at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies. The concept is slated to open this summer.
