Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell ruled out vs. Giants originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Eagles star cornerback Quinyon Mitchell has been ruled out after leaving the first half against the Giants with a hamstring injury.

Mitchell, 24, seemed to get injured when he landed awkwardly on the sideline in the first half. He spent a long time in the blue medical tent and emerged without a helmet.

Mitchell never went inside but stayed on the sideline and had a beanie on his head.

Mitchell was initially listed as questionable to return but was officially ruled out early in the third quarter.

Without Mitchell, the Eagles’ outside cornerbacks in their base package are Cooper DeJean and Adoree’ Jackson. When they go to nickel, it’s Jackson and Kelee Ringo.

The Eagles began this game with Kelee Ringo as their CB2 but actually seemed to bench him in this game when Ringo gave up some big plays. Jackson replaced him before the Mitchell injury. But now with Mitchell’s hamstring injury, Jackson and Ringo are on the field together.

Mitchell had a rough performance last week against Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton but is having a very good season. He was the Defensive Player of the Week for his Week 4 performance against the Buccaneers.
