Following the conclusion of the 2025-26 NBA season that resulted in the New York Knicks winning their first championship since 1973, the basketball community has now shifted its focus toward the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft.
Some of the most notable draft prospects headlining the event include BYU star AJ Dybantsa, Kansas combo guard Darryn Peterson and Duke big man Cameron Boozer.
North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson rounds out the “big four,” who are projected to be selected as the first four picks of the draft, and in particular, received some high praise from Warriors star Draymond Green.
“I actually think Caleb Wilson may be the most special of the group,” Green said on “The Draymond Green Show.”
“Caleb Wilson is so good, and I think he’s still clumsy. Like, I think he’s still clumsy and can’t really walk and chew gum at the same time, and yet, he’s already that good right now. So, if this guy is still clumsy and he’s that good right now already, man, what happens when he continues to grow into this body and he [isn’t] clumsy [anymore]?
“You watch him play, and some of the stuff he’s doing, it doesn’t even seem like he realizes what he’s doing. He’s just doing it. I think Caleb Wilson could potentially be the best player in this draft.”
In his first and only season with North Carolina, Wilson averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game in 24 starts and shot 57.8 percent from the field. The 6-foot-10, 215-pound big man’s athleticism and two-way abilities have cemented him as one of the highly touted prospects entering the upcoming draft.
Green admires Wilson’s game so much that he believes the 19-year-old has the potential to become an even greater player than a particular Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame power forward.
“I saw people saying his floor was Paul Millsap and his ceiling was Kevin Garnett,” Green added.
“And no disrespect to KG. KG is probably [one of the] top three power forwards we’ve ever seen in our lifetime. KG [had] tenacity and all of that. I think [with] Caleb Wilson, now obviously you’ve got to do the work, and he isn’t going to walk in like [Garnett], but the type of talent he is, barring that he goes to do the work, I actually think his floor is Kevin Garnett.
“And man, if that’s your floor, oh my god. Do you know how great KG was? I actually think with Caleb Wilson, Kevin Garnett could be his floor. That’s how special I think Caleb Wilson is.”
Wilson has been heavily projected to be the fourth overall pick in the draft by the Chicago Bulls, but with Green’s stunning comparison, there could be a chance he moves up to the No. 3 selection by the Memphis Grizzlies, or even to the Utah Jazz’s slot at No. 2.
But as with the Warriors and their pick at No. 11, we will see how the draft shakes out come June 23.
