Dominick Puni to miss multiple weeks with PCL injury from 49ers-Raiders game originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

While the 49ers left the field victorious, the main storyline of Saturday’s preseason matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders is the injury status of a handful of key players.

Among them is starting right guard Dominick Puni, who left the 49ers’ 22-19 win over the Raiders with a right knee injury. Puni was ruled out for the remainder of the game after jogging off the field.

After the game, Shanahan revealed the extent of Puni’s injury and a possible timetable for the right guard’s return.

“Dominick Puni left with a knee, never returned. He will be a few weeks, possible PCL,” Shanahan told reporters.

San Francisco also lost a pair of running backs, with Patrick Taylor Jr. and Corey Kiner both exiting Saturday’s game with respective injuries.

Taylor suffered a dislocated shoulder, with Shanahan telling reporters the veteran back will miss a “couple of weeks.”

Kiner is dealing with what Shanahan described as “most likely a high-ankle sprain” with a similar estimated return timetable as Taylor.

Kiner had two carries for 23 yards and one reception for four yards before exiting Saturday’s game.

It appears the 49ers avoided any serious injuries, which feels like a bigger win than the actual victory they recorded against the Raiders.
