Matt Hennessy’s season is over. ESPN’s Todd Archer reported on Thursday morning that the Dallas Cowboys are placing him on season-ending injured reserve.

The Cowboys are placing veteran OL Matt Hennessy on season-ending injured reserve, according to sources. He recently had neck surgery, and the Cowboys were preparing to have him open the season on PUP but opted to move him to IR.

Hennessy was signed by the Cowboys back in the early days of free agency and offered depth along the offensive line. Unfortunately his recent neck surgery complicated matters and the team seemingly feels that injured reserve is the best decision at this point in time.

The level of depth the Cowboys have across the offensive line is going to be interesting to watch unfold as the team gets to training camp. That will be the next point of activity for them as shortly before this news it was also reported that the Cowboys cancelled their final practice of minicamp.

All signs point to Oxnard, although Matt Hennessy will not be among those participating. But there will be some new names participating as the Cowboys made some moves along the bottom of the roster.

Cowboys have had some success in finding players from spring football: Brandon Aubrey, KaVontae Turpin. Perrion Winfrey made opening day roster last year before injury. https://t.co/JKv2AQKtqf
