Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson was asked this morning about a timeline for the return of safety Coby Bryant, who injured his knee at practice earlier this week, and he said the team was still gathering information.

And about that 8-10 week timeline that ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, Johnson said, “I don’t know where you guys got that; hasn’t been said here. I’ll let you guys know whenever we know for sure what it looks like for him.”

Johnson was also asked about his other injured defensive back, Kyler Gordon (calf), who began training camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, and who missed much of the offseason activities as well.

“There is no update. He’s continuing to rehab.”

As far as updates go, these are pretty thin, but we’re talking about two very important pieces of Dennis Allen’s defense. We’ll share more once we know more.

Johnson also said it was good to have linebacker T.J. Edwards back, and that they’ll “continue to get him more involved and ramped up.” He added, “You could certainly feel his presence and hear his communication out there on the defense, which was good to see.”

He also had some good stuff on Darnell Wright, the left tackle competition, Austin Booker, and more.

You can check out his full press conference here.
