The Chicago Bears are getting one of their defensive leaders back, as starting middle linebacker T.J. Edwards has been activated from the Active/Non-Football Injury List.

Edwards was placed on the list before training camp with a minor muscle strain suffered while working out on his own after the OTAs and minicamps concluded. He had already returned to offseason activities after rehabbing his fractured fibula from the Wildcard game, so the strain was unrelated to that injury.

The Bears will likely ramp T.J. up over the next day or two at training camp before clearing him for 100% participation.

The Bears are in shorts and shells today and are scheduled for full pads tomorrow.

Offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo, nickleback Kyler Gordon, defensive lineman Shemar Turner, and linebackers Keyshaun Elliott and Noah Sewell remain on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. They can be at Halas Hall for meetings and rehab, but can’t get on the practice field until removed from the list.
