As the 2025 CrossFit Games quickly approach, the “Road to the Games” docuseries captures the drive of elite competitors

CrossFit is bringing back “Road to the Games,” a behind-the-scenes docuseries chronicling the preparation and training of top athletes competing in its annual CrossFit Games.

The 10-episode series, presented in partnership with long-time sponsor Yeti, is set to debut this summer ahead of the 2025 CrossFit Games, which will take place August 1–3 in Albany, New York.

The CrossFit Games, launched in 2007, have evolved into a cornerstone of the fitness and athletic brand’s identity and a key driver of its global reach. The season begins with the CrossFit Open, a mass-participation event drawing hundreds of thousands of competitors worldwide, and concludes with the Games, where elite, adaptive and age-group athletes compete for the title of ‘Fittest on Earth.’

“We brought “Road to the Games” back to give our community what we know they love most – real stories and a deeper emotional connection to the athletes,” CrossFit CMO Jenna Hauca said. “This series isn’t just about training and competition. It’s about humans with full lives, parents, service members and professionals who happen to also be among the fittest on earth. That’s what makes it so compelling.”

Each episode of “Road to the Games” will spotlight one to three athletes, offering a closer look at their training regimens, personal routines and day-to-day challenges in the lead-up to the CrossFit Games.

The first episode features Austin Hatfield and Colten Mertens, two athletes who balance elite training with responsibilities on their family farms. After narrowly missing qualification in 2024, Mertens returns to the field following a strong showing at the recent Mayhem Classic, where he and Hatfield placed first and second, respectively, to secure spots at this year’s Games.

“This series is also about shaping the story of CrossFit today,” CrossFit senior director of marketing content and strategy Kyna Williams said. “It’s not just a competition; it’s a movement made up of real people with real grit. By following their journeys, we’re not only showcasing athletic excellence; we’re spotlighting the values, diversity, and spirit that define who we are as a community.”

“Road to the Games” will stream on CrossFit’s official YouTube channel, with new episodes released weekly in the lead-up to the 2025 CrossFit Games. The full series will be available at CrossFit Games TV.
