Harris To Hit Trump In San Francisco Speech

Kamala Harris is planning to offer a sharp critique of President Donald Trump’s administration in a return to the national stage this week.
In what is expected to mark her most extensive public remarks since losing to Trump last fall, Harris in a speech in San Francisco on Wednesday plans to urge voters to push back on Trump’s economic policies and what she will cast as ongoing threats to American institutions and global leadership, according to a person directly familiar with her plans and granted anonymity to discuss them. She also plans to expand on her “courage is contagious” theme, the person said.
Her remarks will come during a keynote address to Emerge America, a candidate training program that backs Democratic women, at its 20th anniversary gala. Trump the same week is celebrating his first 100 days in office of his second term.
Harris is expected to decide on whether she will run for California governor by the end of this summer, POLITICO reported last month. Harris' allies have said that if she does run, it would almost certainly eliminate a 2028 presidential run — a bid that she is still considering. A POLITICO and the UC Berkeley Citrin Center poll found California Democratic voters broadly enthusiastic about her potential gubernatorial bid.
Emerge America and Harris have a long history. One of the group’s founders credited Harris’ 2003 run for San Francisco district attorney, when she challenged an incumbent white man, as a source of inspiration for creating the group.
