Ut Help: My Brother Was Killed By A Crazy Tenant In A Triplex He Lived At. We Think The Landlord Is Also At Fault.

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Hello, I'm looking for advice on how to find a lawyer to represent my family over a lawsuit for the death of my brother. A little over a year ago, my brother was murdered by a fellow tenant in the triplex he was living in. The person who killed my brother also killed himself and as far as we have been told, has no real assets. However, we think the landlord is also liable.

We have evidence that my brother sent a letter in writing that he thinks the tenant might be crazy and that he fears for his safety. He was even trying to break his lease early in order to move away but the landlord denied that. The third tenant in the triplex was also denied permission to break his lease early after the murder-suicide. I have called ~10 personal injury lawyers looking to file some sort of civil wrongful death claim against the landlord but from the attorneys that responded, they tell me that there is no case. Maybe that's so but I feel like I have to at least try and get some justice.

Maybe a personal injury attorney is not the correct person to ask, are there any other specialities that I should consider? Perhaps a real estate attorney or maybe I should be looking into non-profits that might help victims of homicide. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how I go about finding an attorney in this scenario?

Thanks
