Traded In Car To Dealership, Car Got Towed And Now I'm Receiving Impound Notices
I traded in my old Accord on 11/24 and decided to keep the current plates (they are custom plates) so I removed them from the old vehicle and stored them in my new car. I received a letter in the mail that my trade-in vehicle got impounded because it was parked on a public road without license plates and that I owe $700.
I submitted the Release of Liability on 11/25, a day after the car was towed but have a Release of Interest paperwork copy from the dealership that showed I signed and sold the car on 11/24. Since I did the Release of Liability a day after the car got towed but said it was sold 11/24 am I still liable to pay the fees to retrieve my car or would that be on the dealership to pay.
The lot at the dealership was full so I parked the trade-in across the street and I guess they never picked it up at all that day. Im also wondering why they haven't inspected my car or noticed one of their trade-in vehicles went missing either.
Location: Tacoma, WA
Also to add, I traded in the car around noon and it was towed that evening on 11/24.
