School Called An Ambulance Now I Have A Bill Being Sent To Collections.
Location: Pennsylvania
So back in 2024 when I was in college, I broke out in a rash and hives, and I went to my teacher about it she called the security team and they were looking at my arm and said that I need an ambulance and go to the hospital and I said no because I was nervous about not having insurance and having a bill stuck with me that I cannot pay. When the ambulance got there, I verbally said that I didn’t want to because I don’t have insurance and I can’t pay the bill. I’m a single mom of two and trying to make it through college. Well, they persuaded me into going. saying that my kids need me and if something happened or later on that it could be an issue and I could have more health issues basically. So upon that I said whatever and they took me. Now I’m stuck with this bill of $2000+ that I cannot pay and the collection agency is reporting it to the credit bureau now I talked to the collection agency and they said the minimum payment is $50. I cannot pay that $50 a month. I’m on my own making just enough to cover my bills here and to feed my kids and get my kids the things that they need a.k.a. necessities. What can I do about this? She (collection agent) said that there was nothing that they can do about the minimum payment and that’s what it is. She was very, not nice to me on the phone and was unhelpful I was willing to pay as little as $15 a month because I know I could try to manage that by picking up shifts at work. So now I’m coming here hoping to get better advice on what to do in this situation. Thank you.
