Roaches In Apartment - Can I Break Lease Early?

Card image cap

Location: Texas So I have been living in this apartment for about 21 months. My lease is up in January. I have never had an issue with roaches. Do I occasionally leave some dishes in my sink? Yes. But I don’t leave food, crumbs, etc at ALL to the amount that I should get a roach infestation on the fourth floor of an apartment complex. I just started seeing these roaches within the last month or so. Requested pest control from maintenance and they went away for a while but now they are back. I see a small roach maybe once every 3-4 days. I live in a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment connected by a long hallway to other apartments. The hallway outside stays filthy from other tenants’ dog hair, trash, spilled liquids, etc. I suspect there is a much deeper infestation in the complex.

They seem to be located in my dishwasher, and I have completely stopped using it due to opening it after a wash and seeing a few running around inside. It’s absolutely disgusting and I feel like I can’t remain here for the few months I have left. I also have a cat and while I get to go outside and be in roach-free areas, she has to stay in my apartment with them. It’s awful. I have just requested more pest control for a second time and plan on contacting my leasing office. Can I get out of my lease without paying an early termination?
