Name Change For A New Born Baby In California

Location: California So long story short my ex and I have a baby that was born in early October of last month. She had a 4 going on 5 year old. We met in October of 2024. Long distance dated till she moved into my apartment mid to late December. She moved in so soon because my cousin last min told me he was moving out so I had to find a roommate. My ex OFFERED to move in with me instead of her brother to be my roommate. She offered to pay half the rent and it would be nothing. She also said she’s looking for jobs when she gets out here. That never happened. Additionally she began talking about she would only have a little bit of money left over for her and her daughter after paying me for rent that, and it’s probably my fault, I told her she only needed to pay what I actually need her to pay. Then she found out she was a few weeks pregnant in end of January. We were fine until her grandmother moved in. Grandma I guess is schizophrenic. She said she medicated but I have doubts. Inn the 3 almost 4 weeks her grandmother was in my apartment my ex and I relationship crumbled. I found out from my stepmother, who my exs grandmother talked to while drunk, told my stepmother that her and my ex were planning on moving out secretly without me. I’ll add that my rent was 1500. With my ex and her grandmother moving it my rent jumped and extra 350. Mind you all the food I payed, bills, rent and the gas I spent driving everyone around was PURELY out my own pocket. All my money was supposed to be going to rent. They’re stacking rent for us to move out and find a bigger better place. I was told that grandma would be helping pay for rent and buying food for the house with food stamps. She didn’t do anything but complain. Run my ac with windows open. Use me and my ex and lie. So finding out they were secretly planning on moving out without me. I confronted them and said they needing to contribute at least 500 altogether per month to stay with me and they had 3 months to find somewhere else. It was met with screaming. Grandma rushing up on me trying to assault me and then having to move out right then and there. But that was GRANDMA. She told my ex and her daughter that she needed to come with her so they all left. Then started complaining how I owed them money because the moved out on the 15 of the month of April. Since then my ex and I barely talked. I asked her multiple times since the day she left if I could be there for appointments. If we can talk about coparenting and more. Or if we can talk about anything period. Yet she told me no or leaves me on read. Throughout the months I’ve consistently reached out and she just ignored. She sent me an ultrasound pic earlier on but that was it. She didn’t tell me the baby was born. I had to find out from social media. Now the baby is here. I already went to the family court house and started the process of getting the paternity test done (as suggested by all the people in my life) and have court set for March of next year. However I got papers sent back to me showing her response and now I have general info about the baby. She didn’t give him my last name. She didn’t give me the right to name my baby like she told me I could when we were together. And now I see that she ALSO asked for a paternity test to be done. And put me down as the alleged father. I know I said allot. But in this case do you think I can possible request a name change so I can AT LEAST have my last name or a middle name. Do you think there’s anyway for me to get that paternity test done or this process done earlier. Is there anything else I can do or do I have to just wait.
