My Husband Is Being Accused Of Voyeurism

Card image cap

Location: Ohio

My husband was at Walmart today in Ohio. I had met him there on my lunch break for a few minutes. After I left he ran inside to bring home a gingerale for our kiddo because she isn’t feeling well. While he was inside, there was a woman in an aisle with him looking at pop. She was leaned over and looking at the bottom row. He kept trying to move around her, and then he waited about ten feet away until she was gone. When she turned around, she looked at him and said “I saw what you did, you took a picture of me up my skirt” my husband was in shock. He asked her what she was talking about. The woman started yelling, and saying he was taking pictures of her. He got his stuff- ignored her and walked to the register and paid. She followed him, saying that he had followed her through the store and took pictures up her dress. He ignored it, she followed him out to his truck, taking pictures of him. He was really upset, he called me and told me what was going on. I started heading back towards him. I advised he call the police, and tell them to come out and check the cameras, have them check his phone etc. they came out, the man listened to him, and then said “if you’re lying to me I’m going to find out” my husband was confident, said go ahead, he wanted them to check the cameras. We thought this was a good thing.

The cop goes in, talks with the lady, and watches the security video. My husband had leaned down with his phone in his hand because he was wearing nylon shorts with no pockets (like usual) he had leaned down to look at the bottom shelf, and then he walked past her. He’s also extremely absent minded, and wanders a lot looking at random things. Overthinking what items to get or not get. Etc. The cop said it appeared to him that my husband snapped a picture of her crotch as he walked around her- he then arrested him. I bailed him out an hour later.

My husband gave them his phone, said to send it to the lab and look and they will see he’s innocent. There is nothing on his phone, and he’s hoping this will help prove his innocence as this video that’s unclear and doesn’t prove anything is the only evidence they have. He did not do this. This is completely out of character for him. He’s a good person, and now he’s facing having to register as a sex offender if found guilty? This will ruin his life! They won’t find anything on the phone, will be this be enough to save him? Someone please help me.
