Mil Scammed Into Signing Contract For A $3000+ Vacuum

LOCATION: CALIFORNIA
Hello /legaladvice M(30) here first post ever please bear with me and I'm sorry if I break any rules
MY MIL(65) was approached by her husband's friend and a salesman last week. They seemed legit to her since her husband's friend was also vouching for the salesman. I believe that MIL was as gullible as she was because the two of them had the same ethnicity as her and in her own words stated "She felt safe". MIL was shown in person a demo of a brand new expensive vacuum at her place & also gifted her a free air purifier. After the demo MIL was told that the vacuum would only count $1000 and that she would be able keep it and get it free as well. MIL heard those words and she was roped into signing a contract to buy the vacuum that would ultimately be free of charge to her if she was able to get 10 referrals. MIL also paid $100 through their online service website and that she was told over and over she would receive the money back if she was able to get the referrals. My wife(30) was the first contacted for a referral.
My wife today just told me about the vacuum and how MIL signed a contract. They were already planning a date for the salesman to stop by. Once I heard about this I immediately had to call MIL and ask her to please send me the contract she signed and anything thing else she received from them. MIL was pretty convinced this was legit, but was able to send me the contract she signed.
After reading the contract, nothing what the shady salesman told my MIL was true in this contract. It was obviously a scam. The contract signed states MIL is now a "RIDER" whatever that means. That she would receive commission from this company if she was able to successfully complete qualified shows & and make qualified sales. Also that the vacuum actually costs $3300 and that regardless of compensation or commission that MIL is on the hook to pay the full amount for the vacuum. There is nothing in the contract that says she can cancel it.
What can I do here to help get her out of this contract and return the $3000+ vacuum?
She wanted a vacuum , but instead she is considered a "Rider" was it that?
Can this be considered as an elder scam? and would that help us with legal proceedings
What kind of lawyer am I looking for?
I'm planning to help MIL every step of the way as her first language isn't English and she really needs our help into figuring this out for her. I already plan to try tomorrow and get a local lawyer to look at the contents of the contract and possibly help us void it. I'm just not sure which type of lawyer would be the right one. As of right now MIL still has the vacuum, I told her to have her husband clean it and package it as best as he can and also to take of video of it working fine with no damages to it.
