Making Sure Dv Victim's Restitution Statement Is Compelling

Card image cap

Location: Pima County, AZ. I'm assisting a friend with hers relative to the criminal trial of her husband. The State's charges against him have gone from 20 felony charges intially, down to 2 non-dangerous via plea and it's possible he could be out of jail in 2-3 months. Does anyone have suggestions on how to complete a Victim's Restitution statement that could actually help my friend in any way? How does one even begin to quantify incalculable damages that also extend to her 8 year old child who was present the day in question when she was physically hit, threatened to be killed, they both fled the home which the husband then shot up with 30+ bullets (one of which entered a neighbors bedroom), and had a 30 min defiant police standoff that ended in him being tazed. They survived the incident but at what cost? The trauma will never be reversed. How can we even guess how this will impact the child going forward and what it will need, or even my friend? Does the State even care what this statement says? And can they even enforce it? Any other suggestions welcome. She is fearful for their lives if he gets probation because he has a history of increasingly violent behavior and she is certain things will get ugly relative to child custody. Thank you for caring to read ????
