Made A Mistake Driving Yesterday
Location: Maryland
I (24M) got into a small fender bender with a city bus yesterday. After it happened, I tried to wave or connect with the driver, but she wouldn't look at me and drove off. I panicked and drove off as well. There was maybe a single scuff on the bus and I had a few scuffs but nothing major.
As soon as I got home, I called the Transit Authority and they put me in touch with the transit police to make a report. I explained the entire situation, and the officer said I should be okay since I reported quickly, but not to do something like that again. I sent him my license, insurance, and registration. He said he'd need to talk to a supervisor and that I'd get a call back. This was close to 5 so I didn't get a call back yesterday. I also called my Insurance.
Now, I'm spiraling and worried just a little. I know I made a mistake and there's nothing I can do to fix it. Should I seek out a lawyer? I'm worried about jail time and losing my license specifically.
