Is It Worth It To Go To Court When A State Trooper Pulled Me Over?

OK, so was Labor Day at 7:30 AM. No one was on the highway and I was driving pretty fast. The state trooper said I was going 93 and a 65.. I told the trooper I was trying to go to work

And I know that’s not an excuse. I was respectful and calling him, sir and he also was calling me ma’am. I really do respect that .

There was no reason for me to even go that fast. I kept telling him I’m sorry and that it was dumb that I did that.

I am not trying to make any excuses. This is the first time I’ve done this. I’ve had my license since last year and this is the first time I’ve gotten pulled over.

It was a dumb thing to do on a holiday and I’m not trying to get out of it but my court appearance is optional. The fine is $190

I’m not sure if it’s a possibility, but I want to go to court to apologize.

Would it be stupid to say? “ your honor I realize that I was going too fast and I wanted to come into court today to apologize for what I have done. I am not trying to make any excuses. And because this is my first offense , I would like to know if there is any options to make amends.”

Again, I’m not trying to get out of this. I am completely OK with 190 and taking the two points. I have to accept the consequences of my actions.

But I am worried that the judge/cop will change the 93 to a 95 and make it to a reckless driving or am I overthinking this?

Or if I go to court and apologize, I don’t know if the judge will laugh in my face because of how fast I was going.

I am sorry I’m scared. I’m getting mixed reviews online saying to hire an attorney, but that seems like it’s gonna be more than $190. So I don’t know what’s best.
